Three Wheeled Buggies
Three-wheeled buggies are great for walking around the neighborhood or for jogging. Their compact design makes them easy to maneuver, even in tight spaces.
If you are looking for a smooth ride with your baby, select models with 360deg front wheels that swivel. They are prone, however, to punctures. Make sure you have an emergency repair kit.
Sturdy frame
Figures have just been released revealing that the three-wheeled buggy - that noughties symbol of more money than sanity - is in steep decline. They are being replaced by four-wheelers which can be more versatile in terrain, yet still look elegant and easy to push.
The basic principle is that the larger the wheels, the easier it will be for your buggy to cope with rough ground and bumpy pavements. With larger wheels front and back makes it much easier to maneuver and more stable when walking downhill or on difficult terrain.
MFM reviewer Kath tested this buggy with the newborn baby as well as a child who was 3 years old and found it extremely robust. It handled cobbles, grass, and rough pavements as well as dirt tracks and kerbs. Kath wrote "it is sturdy to push and very solid when you're on rough terrain. Its tyres (which are inflatable and require periodic pumping) come with suspension built-in which was extremely comfortable for my children.
The shape and size of the seat is another aspect to consider. It is important for the seat to be large enough to allow your child to be comfortable and allow them to lie down. Some three-wheel buggies offer the option of lying flat that allows the child to face you, whereas others only permit a parent-facing option.
An excellent option for taking on off-road or muddy walks is the Roma Atlas. The buggy can be used as a single unit from birth and then adapts to accommodate two children as your family expands. It is suitable for babies and toddlers until age 4 and comes with a bumper bar, raincover, a better 5-point harness and a spacious cushioned seat. 3 wheel buggy are also good with a large storage basket and zip pockets on the hood and an extra pouch on the rear of the seat unit.
Larger wheels
Larger wheels will give your buggy greater stability when driving on rough terrain. This is especially beneficial for buggies that are off-road. Additionally, they allow you to maneuver the pushchair in tight spaces. Many three wheeled buggies have rotating front wheels that aid you in maneuvering around tight corners, while others are designed for running and come with fixed front wheels that lock to improve the speed and stability at which they can be driven. This is also useful if you hit trees or a kerb. The front wheel will lift slightly to prevent hitting it.
Many 3 wheeled pushchairs have air-filled tyres that allow them to handle a wide range of terrains. They are also more flexible than 4 wheelers. They also tend to be lighter. They are more prone to punctures, so you will require a repair kit and spare inner tube in your arsenal.
Mountain Buggy Core, Venicci Carbo and Venicci Carbo lux are among our top 3-wheelers. Both of these buggies have larger wheels that, as per MFM reviewer Kath, "perform really well on gravel tracks, grass and market town cobbles" and are able to effortlessly go up and down kerbs. They also have suspensions that according to Kath "smooths out bumps with great efficiency".
The drawback of having larger wheels is that they can make some buggies quite broad and make it difficult to get through narrow spaces. This is an issue if you're using it as an exercise bike or to to get through doorways that are narrow when you're out and out and about. The majority of models come with compact folding options, which permit you to take off the front wheels and store them in a more compact manner.
Easy to maneuver

One of the major advantages to a three wheel buggy is that it is much easier to maneuver particularly with a child on the way. The way in which they are built ensures that the front wheels spin on a dime and are incredibly easy to manoeuvre, making them ideal for difficult terrains like cobbles, parks and bumpy pavements as well as dirt tracks.
MFM reviewer Kath tried a 3-wheeler with her toddler, and she said: "The Terrain is a joy to maneuver in rough terrain. The swivel wheel front was particularly useful." I was also amazed by the way it dealt with kerbs using the hand-operated break. It was very stable for descending or on a rough terrain."
The only drawback to this amazing maneuverability is that the larger wheels of the 3-wheel buggy may make it difficult to fit into tight spaces. This is something you should keep in mind if your home area is a city. If this is a problem then a 4-wheeler might be a better option for you.

Kath, our MFM reviewer, also adored the spaciousness of the buggy. There's a nimble large, spacious basket that's quite spacious for a buggy that's this big. Plus, there's also an excellent pouch on the back seat unit, and 2 smaller mesh pockets under the hood, where you can keep your phone and keys.
